Strategic change by the Minister of the Home Office by moving the prison ship the"Moby Vincent" with its 120 deportees

The “Moby Vincent” has left for Porto Empedocle, 6 days after being at the port of Palermo, with more than 200 migrants, mostly Tunisians on board.
Yesterday some citizens delivered a petition to the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Palermo. The ship was moved during the day. It is currently on route to the Porto Empedocle dock now, the dock where there was also the Cap Anamur 7 years ago. Nearby there is also “Moby Fantasy" that has returned from Sardinia. 100 Tunisians have been expelled from the Airport of Palermo since yesterday, with two flights from Mistral air and Dubrovnik Air.

“Floating CIE (Immigration Detention Centre)- inquest to be opened"

Video by Enrico Montalbano

The Public Prosecutor's Office of Palermo has opened an inquest into the Immigration Detention Centre Ships, that is the 2 ships still docked in the port of Palermo with about 300 Tunisians on board illegally detained for 2 weeks. The decision by the assigned prosecutor Leonardo Agueci, who coordinates the inquest, has come after the presentation of the submission presented this morning by certain exponents of the Palermo's AntiRacism movement. Among the subscribers of the statement are Professor Fulvio Vassallo Paleologo (Jurist and member of ASGI) Judith Gleitze (from Borderline Sicilia, who has been constantly monitoring the situation in Lampedusa during these months) together with Pietro Milazzo (Cgil Sicily) and Anna Bucca (Arci).

HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE ILLEGALLY HELD ON SHIPS ANCHORED IN THE PORT OF PALERMO

The association, Borderline Sicilia Onlus, expresses its profound indignation at yet another violation of the law and at the total denial of many of the most basic of human rights, including the right to a defence, as well as the judicial control of personal freedom. We are currently witnessing the violations of these rights with the false detention of hundreds of Tunisian citizens on a prison ship anchored in the port of Palermo. The way in which this detention and deprivation of personal freedom is being carried out is wholly illegal. There has been no validation by the judicial authorities, and furthermore, the ship has assumed the status of a floating Immigrant Detention Centre.
