When Public And Private Companies Take Care Of The Migrant Business

Antoniomazzeo.blogspot.it – The millions of Euros circulating in the migrant “welcoming” business in Italy are not only handed over to pseudo-cooperatives and fake non-profits, but even a construction company and a publicly limited company entirely in government ownership. This much can be gleaned from the “Report on the Working of the Reception System Established for Dealing with the Extraordinary Needs Connected to the Exceptional Arrival of Foreigner Citizens into National Territory (2015)”, presented on 13 March 2017 to the President of the Senate of the Republic by the Minister of the Interior.

In search of a safe place

The last few days have shown a continuous appearance of proposals and contra proposals by Italian politicians and European institutions for the management of border controls and sea rescue. To the eulogies for the operation Mare Nostrum, holt recently by the chief prosecutor of Catania, Giovanni Salvi, concur the proposals presented by Alfano to the European Union, based on the agreements with Tunisia and Egypt for coastal patrols and the creation of at least three refugee camps in African countries considered to be safe.

Fleeing migrants. Who lands, who is returned and who loses his life at sea

In the anniversary of the 3 October carnage, it is still dramatic the situation of who has no other choice than running away by sea, in order to escape from bombs, survive and build his own future. Even during the last week, the arrival of 528 migrants was recorder just on southern Sicilian coast. 135 arrived during the night of the 30th of September in Pozzallo harbor. Out of these 135, 118 were men, 8 were women and 8 were children. They were rescued in international waters south from Malta by the Greek tanker “Aegean Myth”.

3,300 new arrivals over few hours

Today at 7.30 am, 200 Eritreans (including 10 children) disembarked at Lampedusa. They stayed on the Favarolo pier the entire morning. Gazebos were put up, but the migrants did not move from the pier (meaning that the centre does not even open in case of emergency). The Red Cross asked for children’s clothing , and some citizens of Lampedusa started a charity collection. The Lampedusa Accoglienza bus closed off the entrance to the pier and guaranteed its privacy (the centre’s staff is still entirely under contract), aided by 4 army jeeps from the “Safe Streets” operation. Currently, the ferry is still docked, and will only reach Porto Empedocle later tonight, at about 3.30 am.

The testimonies of other refugees robbed by the Italian military

In the wake of the tragic shipwrecks of the October 3 and 11, the inauguration of the much publicised humanitarian rescue operation Mare Nostrum has been marred by the report made by around thirty Syrians of theft whilst aboard an Italian military vessel.
