In December a Bengali interpreter asked a fellow Bengali € 440 to ensure his status as a political refugee. He was to be 'signalled out' by a policeman. Today, however, the victim has had his claim for refugee status refused, even though he bravely reported the situation to the police. "Now our lives are in danger," he says, "This is just like the mafia."
