(AGI) - Syracuse - The two believed to be in charge of the most recent boat of migrants to arrive in Syracuse, have been caught. There were 57 Egyptians aboard the 15 metre vessel which was intercepted yesterday evening by the Aero- naval Group unit of the Messina Finance Police. In order to identify those in charge, the police filmed the moment they boarded the boat, which had been identified just off Capo Murro di Porco.
Due to bad weather, it was necessary to bring the boat into the port of Syracuse in order to safely board the migrants. The Syracuse navy also took part in this operation and when the boat arrived in the port, the police, members of the Red Cross, the Civil Protection and volunteers from various organisations were all present to offer assistance. Out of the 57 Egyptians, 22 are said to be minors between 14 and 17 years of age.
