Doctors without Borders in Pozzallo: “100 ‘vulnerable’ migrants expelled”

Over one hundred persons have been expelled from the reception centre of Pozzallo during the last weeks. Among them are women, also pregnant, minors and “vulnerable” persons who experienced “extremely hard journeys and who necessitated medical care” – as condemned by Doctors without Borders (Msf). The organization is concerned “about this unexpected change in the identification practices” and awaits “clarification from the responsible authorities”.

Msf offers medical assistance in the facility of Pozzallo. “We are extremely concerned that vulnerable persons are left without adequate assistance. And we are concerned about what looks like an unexpected change in the practices of identification that are characterized by a systematic application of expulsions from the facility of Pozzallo”, affirms the head of mission of Msf, Stefano di Carlo, “we await clarifications and we will continue monitoring the situation in the coming days”.
